Privacy policy

Effective date:

Summary. The game RUIN collects no personal data. It has no accounts and no analytics, and it does not connect to the internet. This website sets no cookies, tracks nobody, and loads nothing from other servers. The only personal data the developer ever receives is an email you choose to send.

1. What this policy covers

This policy applies to the game RUIN: First Job ("the game") and to this website. Both are made and run by Lee Kanghoun, an individual developer in South Korea.

2. The game

Saved records

Your progress and your options are stored only as files on your Mac.

~/Library/Application Support/RUIN

The Mac App Store version keeps the same files inside the app's own folder, which macOS creates under ~/Library/Containers/. The files hold the state of the game and your option values. They are not sent to the developer. You are free to move or delete them; the support page explains how.

Store save sync

Only if the store you got the game from offers its own save sync (for example Steam Cloud or iCloud), and only if you have turned it on, your record files may be copied to that store's servers. The store handles that sync under its own policy. The developer cannot see those files.

3. Stores and the operating system

If you get the game from a store such as Apple's App Store or Valve's Steam, that store processes your account, your purchase and download history, device information and similar data under its own privacy policy. The developer does not receive that data. What a store shows the developer is aggregated statistics that do not identify anyone, such as download counts or crash counts, and only from people who agreed to share them in their device or store settings.

4. This website

The hosting provider's server logs

As with any website, the company that hosts these pages may keep standard server logs (IP address, time of request, the address requested, browser type) for a limited time, for security and operations. The developer does not use those logs to identify or track visitors. Once a hosting provider has been chosen, it will be named here.

When you follow a link to another site, that site's policy applies. This site is set up not to tell the other site which page you came from (no referrer is sent).

5. Email

If you email the developer, the developer receives your address, your name and whatever you write. That information is used only to reply and to fix the problem. It is not sold, not used for advertising and not passed to anyone else. Messages are stored on the servers of the email service the developer uses. They are deleted once they are no longer needed, and are not kept for more than one year after the last message in the conversation. You can ask for deletion sooner.

6. Children's privacy

The game and this site collect personal data from nobody, and so not from children. The developer does not knowingly collect personal data from children (under 14 in Korea, under 13 in the United States, or the age set by your country's law). If it becomes clear that an email came from a child, it is used only as far as needed to reply and is then deleted. A parent or guardian can ask for deletion at the address below.

7. Your rights

The only personal data the developer may hold is the email described in section 5. You can ask to see it, correct it, delete it or stop its use, and the developer will act without delay. The game's record files exist only on your device, so they are yours to manage.

8. Sharing and processors

Personal data is not given or sold to third parties. Apart from the hosting provider and the email service mentioned above, nobody processes personal data on the developer's behalf.

9. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version is posted on this page with a new effective date, and the change log below says what changed. If the game or the site were ever to start collecting data, this policy would be changed before that version is released.
